Licensing and activation
The Fox Store desktop client requires a valid license for publishing, uploading, and remote writes. The license controls only the software itself; Provider accounts, apps, and uploads are not metered.
Get a license Key
- Choose a plan on the Pricing page and pay through Waffo checkout. No account registration is required.
- Return to the purchase result page after payment, wait for confirmation, and claim your license Key. Test payments do not issue production license Keys.
- Store the Key safely and do not share the claim link. Claim credentials are valid for 24 hours from checkout creation. If lost, contact support with your order number.
Monthly and annual billing are payment cycles of the same plan. Renewal extends the same license; the Key and original device limit remain unchanged. Plan changes or removal do not overwrite purchased entitlements.
Claim deadline and license validity
The 24-hour limit only applies to claiming and copying the Key on the payment result page, not activation. Keep the Key safe after claiming it and activate at any point during the license term; activation is not required within 24 hours of claiming. An expired claim link or removal of the unclaimed encrypted Key from the server does not invalidate an already claimed license.
The license term starts after payment confirmation, not first activation. Delaying activation does not extend expiry. Check the payment result page or license lookup for the exact expiry time.
Activate a device
- Open Fox Store to display the activation page.
- Paste the complete Key into “License Key” (spaces are removed automatically), then click “Activate and enter.”
- Legacy account licenses can still use the compatibility activation entry. Newly purchased licenses need only an activation code; the billing email is not a login account.
During activation, the client sends an irreversible device digest, device name, and platform to count device usage. It sends no Provider credentials or package information.
Check status and renew
“Settings → License” shows your plan, usage-right expiry, update-right expiry, offline-lease expiry, and device usage. The client automatically validates online at startup, every 6 hours, and when the window regains focus if the last check was over an hour ago. You can also click “Refresh now.”
A reminder appears at the top of the workspace starting 30 days before usage rights expire. After renewal, click “Refresh now” to apply it.
Free trial
Click “Start trial” in the client while online to receive the trial duration configured for the current plan. No email, account, or payment method is needed; claiming again on the same device does not restart the clock. The workspace and license settings show the remaining time and exact expiry date; click them to open the purchase website. Enter a paid activation code after purchasing to replace the trial.
Device limits and switching devices
Standard plans bind devices up to the limit purchased. A bound device continuously occupies a slot; reactivation or reinstallation does not count twice, and renewal does not free slots. Standard plans do not support self-service unbinding or transfer. Contact support if device failure, OS reinstallation, or hardware replacement causes identification issues.
Legacy licenses retain device deactivation under their original rules. Deactivation or expiry does not delete Provider credentials, task history, or local files, and does not actively cancel running publishing tasks.
Offline use
After each successful online validation, the license service issues a digitally signed lease, typically valid for 7 days and never beyond the license expiry. If the service cannot be reached, the client remains usable during the lease and shows “Offline grace period” at the top. After the lease expires, an online validation is required.
If the system clock is noticeably rolled back before the last successful validation, the client requires online verification to prevent extending an offline lease. Enable automatic time synchronization and retry.
